Window Management in OS X

Some time ago I wrote my own script to help me with window management in OS X – which lacks, in my opinion, vital features. Now, after having tested one particular application (for months..), I can only recommend Spectacle. The best thing: Spectacle is free open source software, but you can donate if you want. I did, as it is the one and only window manager I need.

What it does: you can re-arrange your applications with the aid of shortcuts. Want your spreadsheet application right next to a PDF document? Here you go:

You can even arrange more than two windows next to each other. In fact, Spectacle can support three columns, or four areas that you can fill with your applications. Here’s another example:

Of course, Spectacle can maximize an application or center it. And here’s the best: it even supports multiple monitors. You want the finder window to move to your second screen? No problem. By the way, here are all the features supported at a glance:
